Our rental cottage in the Dordogne valley, once part of the Chateau Marqueyssac estate, nestles beneath the Chateau in the peaceful hamlet of Le Luc.
You can enjoy this tranquil rural retreat whilst exploring the beautiful Dordogne valley area with its wealth of historic chateaux & bastide towns.

A Perigordine stone cottage situated in the sleepy hamlet of Le Luc in an area of the Dordogne Valley known as 'The Region of 5 Chateaux', being Marqueyssac, Beynac, Castelnaud, Fayrac and Milandes.
The house was once part of the Marqueyssac estate with the roof space used for drying tobacco, the barn opposite is still used today as a 'sechoir'. You can easily walk up to the Chateau from the cottage within 5 minutes, see the RHS mag Dec 08.

This characterful property with its exposed beams and stone walls consists of:-
Living area/corner kitchen with a comfy sofa, dining table for 4, woodburning stove, electric oven/hob, microwave, frige/freezer and dishwasher. There are a couple of steps up to the covered terrace with its wooden table and chairs plus 2 rattan chairs.The views of the valley and 2 Chateaux (Fayrac and Castelnaud) are stunning.

The Sitting room which is also off the living area is a light and spacious beamed room with views towards Chateau Fayrac. There is a 3 seater sofa plus sofabed(suitable for 1 or maybe 2), TV/DVD player with English freeview channels. There is a range of board games, reading material and DVDs are available upon request.

A stone walled corridor off the sitting room leads to the bathroom which comprises WC, handbasin and large tiled shower. A single folding guest bed is stored in this corridor but can be utilised in either the living area or sitting room.

The double bedroom also leads off the corridor. This charming stone and beamed room has a double metal bedstead, juliet balcony, armoire plus its own washbasin in an unusual original alcove. There is also a small hairdrier.

Exterior - there is a small seating area in front of the cellar with reclining chairs provided. There is also a charcoal barbecue in the garage.
The washing machine is in the 'cellier' next to the garage.

Included in the cost
Linen which consists of pillows, sheets, duvet and covers.
Towels, teatowels, but excluding beach towels.
Electric heating from the beginning of May to the end of September is inclusive. Heating is extra in the remaining months at a flat charge of up to 50 eu depending on the week booked.
A supply of logs can be provided at cost during the winter months.

Please note there are a few steps up to the front stabledoor and internal steps with a handrail from the living area to the sitting room. There is also a handrail in the shower.

Parking is by the barn opposite.

A breakage deposit to be paid on arrival of 250 eu which will be refunded upon departure less cleaning costs of 20eu.
